Welcome in Nairobi, Kenya

Besuch bei den Elefanten in der Auswilderungsstation
Yvonne & Thomas - Auswilderungsstation in Tsavo East

Beyond Africa “the film!” - Who hasn't it captivated? To experience this for ourselves is our dream, which we live anew every time we visit. We - Thomas and Yvonne Koitzsch - walk through the country far away from tourist areas. This is of course not possible in the national park, but small private tours are much more individual and you decide for yourself how long you want to see something and where.

Our Karen vacation home is located in the Karen area - an elegant, secure residential area of Nairobi. The Karen area was formerly part of the Karen Blixen coffee plantation (Karen Blixen Farm - Out of Africa). The holiday home is the starting point for many activities that can also be done on foot and of course the starting point for safaris in Kenya.

Short trips: Elephant Orphanage, Giradde Center

elephant orphans

Every time it is a must to walk or drive to the Sheldrik Elephant Orphanage to visit our godparent elephant babies. As sponsors, we were able to visit the reintroduction stadium in Tsavo East.

In the Giraffe Center, we admire the efforts of the English family, who implement the breeding program for the rare Red Shield giraffes very well and that you can see the large and small giraffes every day - from us in the immediate vicinity and easily accessible on foot.

In our childhood we also saw the FILM “Free Born” Lioness Elsa! The Adam family took on the rearing of the orphaned lioness. In the film the actors Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers. In 1984 the couple founded the Born Free Foundation to raise public awareness of wildlife and the abolition of circus animals. The Adams family lodge is located in Naivasha with a museum right on the lake. A fantastic place with an English garden and a restaurant. You should definitely go on a boat trip.

Ultimately, Kenya is worth a visit at any time of the year - always different and always exciting. We like to fly in March, June and October / November and friends often accompany us on the trip.
